SOAR expanded its Adult Social Club programming to Lee's Summit, Missouri, bringing monthly social opportunities to adults with special needs on the Missouri side of the metro.
February 2024: Bubba Bear Joins SOAR as Official Mascot
SOAR welcomed Bubba Bear as its official mascot, named in honor of Mark "Bubba" Hunsley. Bubba Bear has red hair just like Mark, serving as a joyful, tangible reminder of the inspiration behind SOAR's mission and teaches everyone that you “Can Be A Friend!”
March 23, 2024: First SOAR EGG'Sploration Sensory Egg Hunt
SOAR hosted its first sensory-friendly Easter egg hunt, providing an accessible, inclusive spring celebration for individuals with special needs and their families.
September 17, 2024: Teen Social Club Launched
SOAR started a Teen Social Club meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at the SOAR offices, addressing the unique social needs of teenagers with special needs.
February 2025: Consultant for "Unbreakable Boy" Motion Picture
Doc Hunsley and SOAR served as consultants and promoters for the national motion picture "Unbreakable Boy." Doc and Kay attended the world premiere in New York City, bringing SOAR's expertise in special needs ministry to a national audience.
July 28, 2025: First Annual SOAR Bubba Classic Golf Tournament
SOAR hosted its first annual golf tournament fundraiser, creating a new revenue stream to support the organization's growing programs and services.
October 24, 2025: First Annual SOAR Trunk or Treat
SOAR launched its first annual Trunk or Treat event, providing a safe, sensory-friendly Halloween celebration for individuals with special needs and their families.
