SOAR Special Needs
Transforming the lives of special families
Twenty-six percent of the US population are individuals with special needs/disabilities, making them the largest minority group. Therefore, SOAR exists to transform the lives of special families and empowers them to SOAR in their local and faith communities.
3 Main Family Questions
- Will my child ever be able to provide for themselves?
- Who will take care of my child when I’m gone?
- Who will take care of me (as a parent/caregiver)?
Our Culture
SOAR Special Needs upholds a culture that we only ask that everyone simply “Be A Friend.” We have been dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities find the very best version of themselves.
Our Mission
SOAR exists to transform the lives of special families and empower them to soar in their local and faith communities.
Our Core Values
The core values of SOAR: Special people experiencing Opportunities to use their unique Abilities to build a lasting Relationship with Jesus.
About SOAR
SOAR provides respite, social clubs, summer day camps, caregiver support groups, Wonderfully Made Disability Conference, Employer Disability Training, and church resources. In the future, SOAR looks forward to providing employment training opportunities for adults/teens with disabilities, housing and related communities to support individuals with disabilities as they age, and much more!
Personal Greeting From Doc
SOAR provides much-needed respite to our families through our SOARly Needed R&R events and the SOAR Summer Day Camp, which is the nation’s largest disability day camp. SOAR also hosts one of the largest national conferences: the Wonderfully Made Special Needs Conference.
Currently, SOAR has assisted over 600 churches, with plans to assist over 1000 within the next few years. Our future plans include offering a 48-hour weekend respite for families, developing adult job training programs, and establishing adult housing and assisted living facilities for adults with special needs.

Our son has been participating in SOAR activities for the past decade. One of our favorite experiences is the summer camp in July. There must be hundreds of volunteers who give their time to put on a magical camp for children and adults with disabilities that just want to be included. We are forever grateful for the organization and we highly recommend SOAR to all families with special needs individuals.

SOAR Special Needs does amazing work for so many families that have members that need so much care. They have put together resources and outlets for caregiving family members. A summer camp where the special needs person can go and just have a good time. A wonderful fashion show in the fall where the models (all special needs) have an amazing time and you see the joy it gives everyone. It is a great local non-profit that is deserving of our time and money to help families here.

SOAR Special Needs is an invaluable connection for families with children or adults living with special needs. The intentional focus on the individual needs of our families is such a blessing. We’re so lucky to have SOAR as a part of our family.
