Internship Program

Artboard 2-100

A SOAR Summer Intern will support the SOAR Camp Director with all aspects of preparing, setting up, and coordinating SOAR Camp. As assigned, summer interns will also assist with other SOAR events including respites and social clubs. A SOAR Summer Intern will learn how to recruit, train, and oversee volunteers and work hands-on with SOAR participants of all ages with disabilities.

Interns will work 35 hours a week during non-camp weeks, primarily from the SOAR office in Lenexa, KS, taking 1 half day off each week and flexing hours for evening and weekend events. Due to the nature of the internship, SOAR Summer Interns can expect to work an excess of 40 hours the weeks of SOAR camp: July 7-12 and July 21-26, travel to partner church locations within the greater Kansas City area, and take on additional responsibilities.

“Interning for SOAR this past summer was an answered prayer! Not only did I learn practical skills to prepare me for my future, I learned how to invite the Lord into all aspects of my life including the workplace. SOAR is transforming lives of special families while simultaneously transforming volunteers and intern’s lives. SOAR teaches you how to practically follow Christ in your everyday life through serving others. Because of this internship, I know how to guide other Christ followers in my community in learning to love all of God’s children. Our campers are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image and SOAR embodies this!”

"SOAR has always been a huge part of my life but being an intern this summer brought a whole new meaning to how impactful SOAR truly is. Watching all your hard work fall into place for the joy of our special families at camp is truly life changing."
